- 23.50

Did you encounter this before? You were presenting in front of 100 participants. You were nervous because fear of mistakes, participants may be laughing at you.

Since I personally encountered such a situation before, I know how embarrassed it is. Nonetheless, this is not the end of the world. With the help of a more experienced trainer, I have accessed this and taught me how to speak confidently in a training session. In this article, I would like to tell you three tips that confidently speak at the next presentation without hesitation to you.

Tip No. 1: Preparation will help you to overcome hesitation

In my opinion, hesitation indicates that the trainer on the stage seems not to be confident. I do not know if you agree with me here. As a trainer, my job is to convey energy to participants so that they can learn. To be honest, if there is not enough confidence, the participants strongly believe that they can feel it. What will happen next? This may adversely affect the reliability as a trainer in front of the participants.

To overcome hesitation and improve confidence level, carefully select the topic and make sure that it is familiar to you. Prepare the summary of presentation and decision in advance as follows.

  • Important objective of training.
  • Learning end for your participants. And
  • Keep points or messages of your training

Hint No. 2: Appropriate setting of engagement rules with participants at the start of presentation

Did you encounter this before? One of the participants challenged your opinion during your presentation. This was a surprise for you, so you hesitated to decide what to do next. In addition, I distressed the flow of your presentation, I was not impressed that other participants could not cope with this situation and I forgot your negative feedback.

One thing I found useful was to set up the rules of promise with participants properly at the start of the presentation. From my experience using the Extended DISC profiling tool, there are C styles among the participants, which means they are judgmental and tend to look for trainer mistakes.

There are rules to deal with potential problems created by C style participants. I am asking all participants not to believe the word I say because what I share in my presentation only represents my experience. Therefore, truth or false is not justice or mistake. A good or bad experience in Egypt. My C style participants will find it harder to challenge me.

Hint No. 3: Decide when to receive questions from participants

Some lecturers prefer to ask questions from participants during the presentation and some also ask questions after presentation. Whichever you choose, you need to clearly set the rules with the participants. Here are my experiences. If I am quite familiar with this topic, I will ask my participants to ask questions during the presentation. I can reconfirm what participants learned using these questions. Otherwise, we ask participants to ask questions after presentation so as not to disturb the flow of the presentation and make them nervous.

If you are unaware, it is normal if you can not answer the participants. A quick question. What I do in such cases is to assure them that I will look for answers and return to them. It is dangerous to say that I'm right and I do not know if my participants feel it. If you are sincere and honest, do you agree that your participants will be more grateful to you?

I would like you to realize that you can overcome hesitation and improve your confidence level in the next presentation. I hope the tips that I share in this article will be useful.
