Celebrate MLK vacation without reducing operating revenue

Employers are facing a dilemma to take vacations pleasing employees every year. Many employers do not give Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday as a vacation. They do not want to be regarded as racist, but employers are worried about getting enough income to pay the overhead. For many employers, work is troublesome if many companies are closed in some or all of the week two weeks after the week between Christmas and New Year. However, the employer has many choices to solve this dilemma without reducing income. Recognizing the role Martin Luther King, Jr. played in promoting peace, social justice, race / class equality, is a way of celebrating employees' celebrations other than giving paid leave It is our primary objective.

Martin Luther King Day was officially held in all 50 states in the United States for the first time on January 17, 2000. On November 2, 1983, President Reagan signed a bill to create a federal vacation honoring the king. He was also criticized against King's opposition to the Vietnam War and accused the kingdom of having a communistic connection. On January 16, 2006, in Greenville County, South Carolina, it was the last county of the United States to officially adopt Martin Luther King Day as a paid vacation. As Jessie Helms discussed, he was not sufficiently important in American history, so many people do not celebrate Dr. King's birthday. However, Americans lose sight of the importance of holidays and do not cherish citizenship. Martin Luther King's birthday celebration is not only symbolic, but also must be positive. It must be over a celebration day. The holidays must be day of reflection, day to teach nonviolence philosophy and strategy, day to participate in non-violent acts for social and economic progress, equality of race and ethnicity. It is an impressive day for peace, social justice, demonstration for equality of race and class, and national day of volunteer community service. In Utah, Martin Luther King Day is known as the day of human rights. Similarly, in Arizona State and New Hampshire State, Martin Luther King Day is also known as the day of citizenship.

Overall, 31% of employers were giving a holiday in 2006. 35% of over 1,000 large employees gave a vacation and 29% of small business owners took a holiday . This survey is most popular among nonprofit organizations and the least popular factories and manufacturers, as most factories are closed for a week at the end of the year. In addition, some schools and higher education institutions are closed in class. Other people are still open, but you can host seminars and celebrations of Dr. King's message.

How can employers celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday for giving employees in ways other than other paid holidays?

1. Provide employee's lunch and hold seminars on eliminating prejudice and emphasize Dr. King's teaching. Read his speech "I have a dream" in Washington in March.

2. Floating citizenship holiday. Let's celebrate the diversity of work by giving a vacation of citizenship leaders who are respected by race and ethnicity of individual employees. 4. Sponsor an event. Notify employees that you understand Dr. King's accomplishments and support the local events and observe the day.

5. Allow employees to take a few hours break for Martin Luther King's birthday holiday morning event.

6. With the moment of silence, distribute Dr. King 's speech. I have a dream.

7. Tell your community's corruption.

8 Pass the legacy. Let your employees tell the children about him. It only takes a moment to recognize his contribution.

In order for employers to be conscious of society, it is not necessary to be so expensive. It requires the employer to open mind and be comprehensive to everyone.
