How immigrant children will benefit from the Dream Act

- 23.29

As the debate on immigration reform declined, young people immigrants wondering what will happen next.

These children had nothing to do with the parents' choice to immigrate to America. The memories of their hometown are mostly blurred. In their heart, the United States is their home country, but they are illegally here.

For these young immigrants, DREAM law is the most important aspect of immigration reform debt in Congress.

Despite strong opposition to the DREAM Act, the opposition to immigration reforms insists that it should not give a new program to gain illegal immigrants a legal status.

But they never met Arthur.

With his mom and dad, he came to my office and checked if he had future options.

At first glance, he looked like an ideal student.

He received several academic awards. He was a student of "A". He won second in the district's essay contest. He worked as a historian of the school ASB. He played basketball with a high school team.

He had a simple dream. He told me, "My first goal is to register for armed services," he thought of wanting to go to college after the days of service.

However, although his resume was impressive as impressive, it lacked one big item - a paper that gave the US a legitimate immigration status

Graduating from high school, he died.

He is not alone.

For several years, as an immigration lawyer, I saw young immigrants suffering silently after graduating from high school. They can not join the army. They can not work legally. They can not go to college. They can not move forward for missing immigration judgment.

They have better value.

Please enter development, relief, educational law (DREAM Act) for foreign minor.

Unlike immigrant allegations, the DREAM Act does not guarantee a legitimate position for immigrant children. Only if children can meet the strict requirements of the Dream Act will these young people have a way to acquire a green card or become a US citizen.

The DREAM method has a two-step process. In the first stage, if he meets all the requirements, immigrant young people will be given a temporary legal immigration status for 6 years. At this point, I must prove that he gained the right to become a legitimate permanent resident.

There are four requirements for the first round.

Age - You must be entering the United States by the age of 16. You can not be under 12 or 35 years old at the time of submitting the paper of the DREAM Act.

Long stay - You must live in the United States on the day the DREAM Act becomes law. Also, I have to live here for 5 years before the DREAM law becomes law.

Education - Those who have completed the GED course or graduated from a senior high school.

Good moral personality - You must have a good moral character and you do not have records of criminal offenses.

In addition, immigrants seeking the benefits of the Dream Act need to demonstrate their English ability and pay a strict penalty to the government.

Assuming they meet all requirements, we get permanent residence temporarily for 6 years conditionally.

Upon reaching this point, the government confirms whether it meets the requirements of university training and military service, and confirms that the criminal record is not hurt.

Opponents argue that immigrants have used up our resources and can not return something back to the US

The goal of the Dream Act weakens such criticism. By imposing stringent universities and military demands on immigrant children, the government will recover investments made early in the life of these children.

In addition, the government will ensure future contributions to tax base and social security income in the future and improve the level of qualified workers of different professions.

When I see things, it is time to pass the Dream Act.
