The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) is a program that allows specific foreigners to visit the United States without applying for a B-1 visa for business purposes. This will enable foreign businessmen and economic ladies to make a "quick trip" to the US for professional commercial events within 90 days, such as conferences and contract negotiations.
In VWP, citizens of the target country only get approval from the travel approved electronic system (ESTA) before visiting the United States. Once approved, you can come to the US without a B-1 visa. Upon arrival, it is necessary to register in the US-VISIT program which is a special information network that records biometric information such as fingerprints and other identification information. This system not only purchases identity fraud but also helps the government identify those who have stayed for too long. Once cleared, you can stay in the U.S. up to 90 days.
Throughout the Visa Waiver Program, there are currently 36 countries where you can come to the United States for temporary business purposes. It is the judgment of the U.S. government to decide whether a country is eligible or not, and even if it meets all the requirements, it can continue to be dismissed. The United States is considering measures such as security measures taken by the state, data sharing, border control, anti-terrorism measures, etc. The citizens are eligible for VWP in the following countries:
- England
- Germany
- France
- Japan
- Korea
- Brunei
- Australia
Of course, if a resident of a VWP country still wishes to apply for a visa, the VWP member country has the right to apply for a visa. In fact, even if they plan to come to the United States for other reasons like education, they still have to apply for a visa.
