Fredericka "Marm" Mandelbaum - the most successful fence in the history of New York City

- 21.03

Fredericka "Marm" Mandelbaum was born in Prussia in 1818. She emigrated to America with her husband Wolfman Delbaum in 1848. Mandelbaum, a large female with a weigher of more than 250 pounds Mandelbaum opened a dry shop in Clinton Street 79 at the corner of Livington on the first floor of a three-story building. By 1854, it was the predecessor of the largest fence operation in New York history. She lived on the top floor of the building with her husband, son, and two daughters. The apartment was lavishly decorated with any furniture in the city with stolen goods. Among the famous scammers she handled were Shang Draper, George Leonidas Leslie, Banjo Pete Emerson, Mark Shinburn, Bill Mosher, Joe Douglas.

Mandelbam was known for casting a gorgeous party in her apartment and attending both famous criminals in the city, both men and women including politicians and judges who were in the back pocket. She became a friend with a female offender like Black Lena Klein Schmidt, Big Mary, Ellen Crégg, Queen Lis, Little Annie, Old Mother Hubbard, Infamous Pick Pocket and Thief Sophie Lions It was. Her bank robber husband Ned moved to New Jersey over the Hudson River and became known as Hackensack's Queen.

Mandelbam preserved the eyes of the police for the first time in 1862 and estimated that between 1862 and 1884 it handled $ 500 million to $ 10 million of stolen goods. Her business was so good that she thought of wanting to bring the best scammers to Surre, but there was a person who abandoned the idea and robbed the stolen goods to another fence. She decided to open a school for the children of Grand Street. There, a small-scale nurse learned sneaky professions from the ground, and was able to start as a pick pocket or a sneak thief. For older children, she offered courses in robbery, safety breaking, intimidation and confidence games. Her school was very familiar, the prime minister's son applied for admittance and instantly closed Mandelbam school.

Whenever Mandelbaum is in trouble, relying on Little Abe Hummel and Big Bill Howe from Hummel and Howe's law firm (please do not confuse Dewey, Screwem, Howe's law office), they will have Mandelbaum I was able to find legal and illegal activities to protect from prison. Hubble and Howe were receiving such good service to Mandelbaum. They put them in a cash register of $ 5,000 a year.

In 1884, New York State attorney Peter B. Olney hired Pickerton Detective Agency to invade the criminal organization of Mandelbam. One of the detectives sold the stolen silk mail, and when her house was attacked the next day, she was arrested by her son Julius and clerk Herman Strude. Mandelbaum received theft and stolen goods. But clever Hubble and Howe arranged for Mandelbaum to be bailed. Trying to shape, she embarked on bail, moved to Toronto, Canada, and spent the rest of his life comfortably.

In order to add insults to the injury, New York State was beaten by a crooked bond broker who was thought that Hubble, Howe, and Mandelbam had possessed property to promise bail. Using backdated checks, they transferred the property to Mandelbam's daughter. Putting her fingers in the eyes of New York City police Mandelbaum was still hoping for her crime. I traveled to New York City many times and disguised, got on board with old friends and helped plan multiple robbers.

Mandelbaum criticized the American government as much as American women in the history of the United States, but died of natural disasters in Canada at the age of 76 in 1894. In 1903, Howe died in bed in peace, but in 1905 Little Abbe Hummel was sent to prison for some count of legal errors.

In other words, one in three people is not bad.
